long, olive drab canvas web construction belt with a
field-grey painted, steel buckle catch to one end and a tan
leather buckle retaining tongue to the reverse of the other

to replace the manufacturers marks on garments and equipment
to conceal the manufactures name and location from the allies,
to prevent bombing raids on German industrial factories. The
reverse of the belt is also marked with a black size inkstamp,
"85". The belt is in overall excellent unissued

moderate age tarnishing. The reverse of the buckle is a mirror
image of the obverse and has a separate circular plate insert
with a crimped catch and retaining hook. The circular plate is
secured by the crimped outer edges of the buckles obverse. The
buckle has no visible manufacturers markings. The natural
aluminum buckle securing bar is intact and the belt has the
addition of two handstitched vertical thread loops to the
obverse also intended to receive the buckle catch. Both the
belt and buckle are in overall very good condition with the
belt still being quite clean and bright and light to moderate
age tarnish to the buckle. The belt would roughly fit waist
sizes ranging from 31" to 36". |
